How your data is used

This is the privacy policy for Julie Lyon, who is the data controller for information collected through this site and for personal data collected by Julie Lyon Therapy Practice. The purpose of this policy is to inform you about how I collect and use your personal information through this website and during the provision of psychotherapy services. It also covers my justification for processing sensitive data that you provide to me.

 

​I collect and use your information for the following reasons:

  • To respond to your inquiries about treatment

  • To contact you about your session appointments and billing

  • To provide you with the best possible treatment and service

  • To keep relevant notes about your psychotherapy

 

I collect the following information.

Your contact details, home address, GP details (as required by my professional bodies) and information relating to your psychotherapy including, for example, sensitive information such as health information, which you choose to share with me; I collect this information directly from you. For example, by filling in the contact form, you are sharing information with me voluntarily.

 

Legal use of your information

​I will only use your personal information with your consent to support your psychotherapy.

In certain circumstances, it may be necessary for me to use your sensitive personal information if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

 

The information you provide will help to fulfil the contract I have with you to provide psychotherapy, i.e. to allow me to bill you correctly.

 

How do I comply with the law?

I will ensure the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information is done transparently, in accordance with the Privacy Policy. I will maintain accurate and up-to-date records, only collecting the minimum necessary data, and de-personalizing the data whenever possible. Your data will be retained for the minimum required time and will not be transferred outside the UK. All data is securely stored digitally and physically in a locked environment. After your psychotherapy, your data will be confidentially destroyed.

 

Who do I share your information with?

All the notes and information I maintain during your psychotherapy are confidential and will not be shared with third parties except when legally required as set out above.

 

Your rights

With regard to your information, you have several of rights:

  • You can have access to and obtain a copy of your information.

  • You can request that I amend incorrect or incomplete information.

  • You can request that I stop collecting or delete your information.

  • You can object to the way I am processing your information.
